1997-2000
Webmastering @ Stakes
There was no work available in Varkaus so I had to start looking around... I got a temporary position from Stakes and moved to Helsinki. After an year I got a permanent vacancy.
Familiarized with server technology (Microsoft IIS, Frontpage, Linux, security issues etc) and database programming. Job description was really versatile: from IT support to training people, attending trade fairs and international seminars.
One of my first big projects at Stakes was to modernize old Linux/FTP based webserver and webpages to more user friendly system both on customer and webmasters' point of view. On customer perspective the new accessible page design was more user friendly and the new server technology enabled more interactive services.
New system was built using Microsoft web technologies - Frontpage web editing software was playing major role. After system installation all webmasters were trained to use the new system. Thanks to support from management and enthusiastic webmasters, the project turned out to be a success.
Database programming for following projects

Powerware/Eaton
In the end of November 2000 I started in Powerware, working in the marketing communications department as eBusiness Manager. I managed Powerware websites (public, extranet and intranet) in EMEA area (Europe, Middle East and Africa).
Job description was quite versatile; most time was spent in managing web related projects and providing support for company's marketing managers in Europe. Production of the major web projects were outsourced to multimedia companies and I worked as project manager in such projects.
Working enviroment was really international - most of email & telephone communication were in English. Communication inside EMEA, between USA and even New Zealand (Montage interactive) required sometimes bit strange working times.
I coordinated Powerware websites in EMEA for EMEA English websites, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Norway, Poland, Romania, Russia, Sweden and UK.
I also did some programming work with HTML/ASP/Lotus Notes, for example basic publishing system for company's intranet and some applications for the public and extranet sites. Below are few samples made for the public websites.
